A child was born on a day that will not be known, to a woman she will never meet, in a place we have yet to go. A beautiful, precious being saved by the grace of God. Born in such a poor part of this world that even the orphanage did not have enough to feed her. And so it was told, "do not take her, she will not make it".
But God sent a worker to her who insisted in taking her, along with the child she came for. So began a new journey of finding "Little One". Within a week, we discovered her, in her new home and learned of her fragile state. We began to pray for her and the love grew from the moment I saw her.
It was only a matter of days of prayer over "Little One", when the Spirit moved me in a way I've rarely known. When God speaks, we must listen. Oh don't get me wrong, I certainly had doubts and was quite frightened at what He asked. But I soon embraced His direction and began to pursue the possibility of adopting her.
It is not an easy task. Everyone would say "it is impossible". She is from China, and according to China she does not exist. If she passed away today, it would be as if she had never been born. (to China) To us, it is a different story. China says "you cannot adopt a child you have identified", We must choose them for you. China says, there are thousands of Children in hundreds of orphanages. They can be referred to dozens of countries with hundreds of agencies, who have thousands of parents waiting. Our agency says, even if she was referred to them, "there are hundreds of family waiting before you".
What are those odds? Odds don't really matter when it is in God's plan, do they? Can China really get in the way? Can our agency really get in the way? Can the orphanage really get in the way? We will ask God to lead us, and for now....He had led us to prepare for her. We are learning about her condition and preparing our hearts and home (and paperwork) to be ready for the possibilities of what God has in store.
Today "Little One" is in the Hospital. She was born with a major birth defect. One that usually has immediate surgery performed at birth. One that can paralyze or cause death from severe infection. But she had no one to provide for her. God, though. He provides; He cares for the orphan. Nearly 7 months old, she received surgery 2 days ago. God moved in the hearts of many, many people from all over the world to send funds for this precious little one. He moved so deeply; so beyond the measure, that he provided 8000 dollars more than was need. (*This awesome provision has already saved the lives of two other orphans in her home who are currently hospitalized with RSV. In China, they stand waiting in the ER's for the cash in hand before they begin to work on you)
We await the news of her recovery. We know that "it was successful"! We await to see how God will knit her family together. Praise Him through whom all blessings flow!
